37-23 Cocoon of Love

>

A murky haze clings to the mine tunnels, as if mourning some tragedy.

So... after the original child, the one she named Aisling, passed away, Melinoe started raising this "Aisling" instead?

On the tombstone, the strokes of the meticulously carved name are stained with aged machine oil.

Spiders hunt to feed their young. The "child" you have seen in those illusions... they must all be the same.

They are all the second "Aisling".

"Aisling"...

Liv lets out a quiet sigh.

Who is she really? What... exactly is she?

There is no trace of the Punishing Virus on her... unless she's been controlling its dissipation herself.

Her disguise was flawless. Under Melinoe's protection, she never revealed a single trace of her true nature.

A Hetero-Creature...? That's certainly possible.

If you have already encountered <b><ud><color=#34aff8ff><link=39>Cradle</link></color></ud></b>, it's not a stretch to think the Red Tide could breed something even stranger.

But... why would she want to probe my M.I.N.D.? She even sacrificed this entire nest for it...

Could it be... that dataset?

All Constructs have nearly identical M.I.N.D. structures. Except for... that one dataset loaded into Liv's.

But why would a Hetero-Creature... want that dataset?

No matter how you look at it, the motives don't align. Why would a Hetero-Creature "need" that dataset?

...For now, our priority is to stop Melinoe.

We have to find that child... the second "Aisling", before she can cause any more harm.

A mother... will always do everything she can to buy her child more time to escape.

She should be waiting for us, just ahead.
