Background

Background I

The Ignis Combat Unit Booster is a bionic combat support machine with an integrated solar power system. It was designed as a feline-style tactical support unit. In a standard squad setup, it handles four core roles: forward scouting, fire support coordination, area lighting, and field endurance support.

Background II

Ignis' bionic fur doubles as a solar panel system, restoring up to 18% battery per hour in normal sunlight. Even on cloudy days, it still manages around 3% to 5%. In combat, it can release the energy stored across its surface in an instant and produce a sustained directional flash.

No.001

When using bite attacks, Ignis can fire high-frequency pulse waves from inside its mouth, which are highly effective at disabling mechanical targets. The designer did leave a note in the logs, though: use this function with caution. Ignis has a bad habit of deliberately identifying Babylonia's vending machines as "capture targets."

No.002

When its battery drops below 20%, Ignis will instinctively curl up in the sunniest spot it can find. Because of that, the technical manual includes one very specific note: during stealth operations, a high-powered flashlight may be used to shine on its back for temporary "soothing" if needed.

No.003

In its early experimental models, Ignis showed some very obvious catlike habits. It would rub against people's legs, flop over to show its belly, and do other attention-seeking things that caused more than one tester in heavy tactical gear to trip and nearly eat the floor. Those behaviors were toned down during later adjustments, but the logs show it still likes practicing "leg-hug pounces" on familiar handlers—especially Kamui.
