Requiem Part II

>

Long after, the demons of the Scorched Borderland call this age the Dreamless Night, the opposite of the Eternal Daylight.

Nirvatia, the Night Sovereign, destroys the Sanctuary herself and ends the angels' oppression of the mortal realm.

The demons gain the honor of immortality at the cost of losing their dreams forever.

Rumor says the Bloodsworn who stands by the Night Sovereign was once a close comrade of the Four Horsemen.

But now, the demons dread the names of the Four Horsemen.

Because their arrival brings only destruction and death.

Congratulations, my lady. With the fall of the last Cardinal Diocese, we now control the entire Scorched Borderland.

Meanwhile, construction of the Babel Tower continues without a hitch. I believe it won't be long before the Supreme Heaven also falls under your control, my lord.

Enough with the flattery. Stop wasting my time. Where is Gray Raven?

Nirvatia descends slowly from the towering demon palace. Her every gesture sends tremors of fear through the demons gathered below.

Y-yes, my lady!

Gray Raven and the Four Horsemen have departed for Hell to negotiate with the demons. With Mammon's Throne now vacant, it's only a matter of time before Hell belongs to us as well...

Before the weak demon can say anything more to annoy Nirvatia further, the Bloodsworn steps into the demon palace.

The demons all breathe a quiet sigh of relief. With Gray Raven here, Nirvatia will not release her wrath today.

Gray Raven. Just the person I wanted to see.

When Nirvatia sees you arrive, she smiles, an expression unfamiliar to every demon in the hall.

I just found something interesting. I wanted to see it with you...

Ahem. That concludes today's session. All of you may leave.

The demons bow their heads and leave in a disorderly rush.

The grand hall falls silent. Only Nirvatia and the Bloodsworn remain. She doesn't rush. Step by step, she leads you toward a clear, polished mirror.

I found a relic of Nyarlathotep. This is the Primordial Mirror. It truly holds Nyarlathotep's soul.

According to legend, the Laws of Life and Death were born inside the infinite space of this mirror. If someone activates the ritual while standing before it, they can witness every cycle of their reincarnation.

More accurately... I want to understand where I truly came from.

I've already seen it. Everything is perfectly clear to me.

Nirvatia stands still in front of the mirror. She lifts her hand and reaches toward the reflection of herself.

Long ago, every demon in Hell called me a natural-born demon. But none of them knew that I never chose to be born without dreams.

I want proof that I was not born a witch. That my soul is no different from theirs.

I ended up here because of my own choices. Nothing else.

She withdraws her gaze from the mirror and turns to face you.

Gray Raven, can you understand why this matters to me so much?

That is enough.

Nirvatia takes your hand. Together, the two of you activate the ritual.

A sharp sound rings out as the mirror instantly shatters. Crystal shards fly through the air.

An endless corridor unfolds before you. This is the Mirror Gallery where Nyarlathotep once remained dormant for decades.

You and the newly appointed Demon Lord step into the corridor. At the same time, countless unfamiliar scenes appear on the mirrored walls.

Nirvatia looks up. Her reflection mixes and overlaps with the scenes on the mirror walls.

My love. I never thought we could truly create a child together...

This must be mercy from the Supreme Heaven. He broke the walls between our souls and races, and brought our love together.

I pray this child never gets caught in the war between Sanctuary and Hell. Let her live in the mortal realm, as a human, by your side.

In the mirror, Nirvatia sees her father for the first time. He stands beside her mother with gentle eyes. Together, they look down at the small baby in their arms.

This should be a beautiful, dreamlike moment. But something feels wrong...

I'm sorry, Nirvatia. I had to leave you the moment you were born.

I did it so you and your mother could live safely. Maybe one day, you'll return to Hell and find out who you truly are.

Until then, we hope you choose to be yourself. Never let prejudice decide who you are. Live freely.

No...

—This can't be real!

Nirvatia cries out. The illusion shatters. The entire mirror corridor collapses around you two.

You rush to her side and catch her as her body weakens. She's shaking.

Gray Raven... did you see everything?

She doesn't answer your question. Her eyes wander in all directions, lost.

Was I... born of a human and a demon?

No demon can know this secret. If it spreads, they will no longer trust me to fight for Hell...

You take her hand in yours.

These words should come easily, but instead they feel heavy and hard to speak.

Gray Raven... I knew I could always count on you.

I made the right choice. You're the one thing I can't lose.

With that promise secured, Nirvatia takes a deep breath and slowly stands up again.

You're right. I can't lose my nerve now... We have to finish what we started.

After decades of war, there's only one step left...

Nirvatia walks up to the mercury mirror. She lifts one finger, and a stream of purple light shoots out, shattering the forbidden mirror into dust.

She doesn't look at the shards on the floor. As if they were never there, she continues down the hall, glass crunching beneath her feet.

To set this world right, we have to take down the Supreme Heaven.

And I'll give everything to make it happen.

You say nothing. You just silently follow her down the hall.

Outside the demon palace, an immense army has gathered. As far as the eye can see, the landscape is covered with banners and watchtowers.

When they see Nirvatia step out from the palace, the army erupts in cheers. They raise their arms in excitement.

All hail Night Sovereign! All hail Gray Raven!

The Four Horsemen will lead us to victory in every battle!

All glory to Hell!

Nirvatia stands on the high platform. She looks back at you and extends her hand.

Come. This new world is waiting for us to conquer it.
