New Oakley

6:36PM

6:36 p.m., New Oakley

Logistics! We need ammo here!

Logistics Staff

Right away!

The battle has raged for nearly an hour, bullets streaking like deadly rain from New Oakley's defensive line.

Though the newly constructed watchtowers and walls have slowed the Hetero-Creatures' advance, their relentless, death-defying charges leave the defenses teetering on the edge of collapse.

One has breached our defenses!

Before the resident could finish speaking, a shadow blurs into motion, charging toward the Hetero-Creature.

Wielding her Pyro Katana, Lucia closes the distance in a flash. Adjusting her stance mid-air, she brings the blade down in a searing arc, cleaving through the creature with a single strike.

These Hetero-Creatures rely on their high-speed flight to breach the defensive line from time to time, penetrating into the town's perimeter.

Lucia stands ready here, tasked with eliminating any Hetero-Creatures that make their way into the town.

Holy crap, did you see that? That Construct's moves are unreal!

Stop gawking and focus! Deal with these damn bats already!

Max, the mayor of New Oakley, gazes toward the frontlines, his brow furrowed with worry.

How much ammunition do we have left?

Enough to last through this battle.

What about the next battle?

...Just barely.

It's been an hour already...

The Hetero-Creatures' attacks are getting worse. Normally, they would've stopped by now.

With Dante here, we'll be just fine!

Max shakes his head and looks at his son.

What's the word from the Forsaken?

They said they'll send some people over, but not a lot. Other conservation areas are getting hit by Hetero-Creatures too, so they're short on manpower.

...

[player name], when will Babylonia's reinforcements arrive?

If we need to evacuate later, we have to save enough ammunition to deal with potential threats during the retreat.

Looks like we need to...

Someone's coming!

Before Max can finish, an alert from the defense line snags his attention. His gaze snaps toward the horizon.

Beyond the seething mass of Hetero-Creatures, a wildly modified pickup truck barrels toward New Oakley.

The vehicle carves a wide arc across the desert, tires spitting sand as it skids to a halt.

The engine's roar pulls some creatures' focus. Screeching, they pivot mid-air and swarm toward the truck.

Alpha and Vergil step out of the vehicle.

Looks like we arrived just in time.

Let this be our warm-up.

Max turns to you beside him, finishing his interrupted thought.

[player name], looks like we need to prepare for close-quarters combat.
